Šumice is a village and municipality (''obec'') in Uherské Hradiště District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 1,759 (as at 28 August 2006). Šumice lies approximately east of Uherské Hradiště, south of Zlín, and south-east of Prague. The first mention of Šumice dates back to the 14th century when the name of the village was Schumitz. The current name dates from 1924.
